Our Policies

The dahlia tubers available in this sale are grown on my small farm in Jacobus, Pennsylvania. Each plant is closely monitored for health throughout the growing season, then hand-dug and divided. Any plants or tubers showing signs of concern are promptly culled. I ensure all tools are sanitized and take the necessary precautions to prevent the spread of viruses or gall.

Each listing in this sale represents a single tuber division, guaranteed to have a viable eye and grow true to its name listed in the sale.

When your order arrives, please unpack and inspect your tubers immediately. If there are any issues with your order, please contact me within 5 days at farmtocityflowers@gmail.com for resolution.

Once an order is placed, it cannot be modified. All sales are final—no returns, refunds, or exchanges. Farm to City Flowers is not responsible for tuber failure due to growing conditions, pest damage, or adverse weather. In the event of tuber loss during storage and our inability to fulfill part of your order, you will receive a refund for the affected tuber(s) to the original payment method. Substitutions are not available.

Please note: Farm to City Flowers is a small farm and I grow only a few plants of some varieties. Items in your cart are not reserved until checkout is complete and may be removed if stock runs low and another customer checks out first. If there is a specific variety you want, it’s best to complete your checkout as soon as possible.

*This is the reason behind offering combined shipping.*

Dahlia Care:

Dahlias are a popular and beloved cut flower for good reason, but be warned, they can be addicting! Here are some tips for planting and caring for your dahlias.

Planting:

  • Wait until after the last frost: Dahlias should not be planted until the ground temperature is between 55 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Avoid wet conditions: Hold off planting if the forecast predicts a wet period, and don't water until sprouts appear from the soil to prevent tuber rot.

  • Prepare the soil: Dahlias thrive in rich, well-drained soil.

  • Protect from pests: Use slug and snail bait at planting to prevent damage to newly emerged sprouts.

  • Choose a sunny location: Dahlias need at least 6-8 hours of sunlight per day.

Supporting Growth:

  • Provide support: Dahlias grow quite large and require staking to prevent them from falling over. Insert stakes at planting time to avoid damaging the tubers later.

  • Protect young plants: Consider using a cut-off milk jug as a mini-greenhouse to protect young sprouts from rain and cold temperatures. Remove it once the sprout reaches 3-4 inches tall.

With a little care, your dahlias will reward you with beautiful blooms all season long.

I’m so honored to share my passion for these special flowers with you. Are you ready yet? Let’s grow some gorgeous dahlias together. Here come the flowers!
